Faced My Fear, Now I Am An Author!

Faced My Fear, Now I Am An Author!
When 2018 began, I made a promise to myself. I promised that this would be the year that I faced my fears no matter what. Click To TweetFear #1: writing a book or being a contributor to a book
The funny thing about putting something out into the universe is that she tends to answer back. Click To Tweet There I was being active and supportive in a myriad of professional Facebook groups when not one but two opportunities to be a contributing author surfaced. Of course, I was afraid but I said “yes” and figured out the ligistics later. This is so apropos because I did a live video series just the other day in our Good to Great Womens Community on Facebook all about punching fear in the face. Greatness happens when you feel the fear but you do it anyway. Click To Tweet I have never published a book before nor have I ever been a part of professional collaborative like this before. It didn’t matter that I was not an English major or that my writing experience has been limited to a few short stories and entries in this blog. All that doesn’t matter when there is a story to be told and an opportunity presents itself to punch fear in the face.
In this Facebook Live broadcast to the Good to Great Womens’ Group, I share the great news surrounding the launch of The Chronicles of Women in White Coats book. Please excuse my voice and my frequent throat clearing, I am fresh out of the throws of strep throat.
So needless to say that my chapters are written and submitted. The launch date for The Chronicles of Women in White Coats book is set for May 19, 2018 at the Hamilton in Washington DC. The excitement is thick and I am having to pinch myself often to confirm that this is not a dream. If you happen to be in DC on May 19th and would like to support, please grab a ticket here and let’s do this! If you aren’t going to be in town, then no worries, grab a copy of the book here. Be sure to choose me, Dr Charmaine Gregory, as the author you are supporting when you purchase. Thank you in advance for your support! (Big smile and a virtual hug coming right at you!)
The second part of facing this fear of authorship will be in the form of another book to be released later on this year. Of course, the ultimate will be solo authorship which if I have it my way will come to fruition in 2019.
Fear #2: Becoming a Public Speaker
So this one is a bit more challenging to hash out. I do get to practice through YouTube videos and Facebook live broadcasts but the ultimate would be speaking to an audience at a national conference. To this end, I put in my name to speak at a very exciting and amazing idea exchange conference feeling very afraid after pressing send on my video entry. Though I did not get chosen to speak at this year’s comference, I have more insight into what I need to do in order to be able to get the opportunity to speak at subsequent meetings. So now I am shamelessly looking for opportunities to hone my platform, get practice and improve so that I can face this fear once and for all. It is when we most afraid to push through, that the biggest breakthrough awaits. Click To Tweet Stay tuned for more details on how this fear will be crushed in the up coming months.
Thank you for your time and attention. I appreciate you and your support.
