Fearless Series #2: Erase Negative Imprints!

Have you ever wanted to try something but kept hearing the little negative voice in your head telling you that you can’t? Negative thoughts are negative imprints. These tend to pop up at the most inopportune and tend to steal the joy of the breakthrough that comes from pushing past fears.

In the first blog in this series (How to be fearless), I addressed how fear can be positive and provided two simple steps towards overcoming fear. Now that we have recognized what our fears are and have started to formulate a plan of action, we need to move on to eliminating negative imprints.

The path towards fearlessness is filled with small decisions to strengthen character and bolster bravery. The simple actions that we do daily leads to mind shift and mindset change that emboldens us and makes us fearless in time.

Tips for Changing Your Mindset

  1. Surround Yourself with Positive People. Seek out the company of those that are also striving to think outside the box and push towards greatness. Look for those who excel at whatever it is that you fear. So for me, I fear speaking in public. Since I know that is my weakness, I engage with others who are great at public speaking and pick up on the tips and tricks that they use to excel. When you are surrounded by positive forward thinking energy, you are much more likely to adapt a positive mindset.
  2. Use Mantras and Affirmations. Whatever it is that you fear, find a mantra or affirmation that negates your fear. Look at this statement or statements often and say them out loud. The more you hear this positive and empowering sayings is the more they will become a part of you. Every day that you say your mantra is one day closer to you erasing negative imprints surrounding your fears. You can also pull on these tools when you have a resurgence of negative voices telling you to succumb to your fears.
  3. Read Powerful Books. A lot of what we internalize unconsciously is what we not only hear but also what we read. Therefore, why not read material that will empower and uplift? There are numerous books that get the job done. Books that push you to dream big, think outside the box, and tap into your hidden potential are fuel for eradicating negative imprinting.
  4. Make a Conscious Effort. You have to make a decision today. You have to decide that you will change “I can’t” to “I can!” no matter what. Decide to change your mindset. Practice this on a daily basis and it will become your new normal. Train yourself to counter your negative inner dialogue to be replaced by positive thoughts. Remember when I said that fear can unleash your inner super power? Having control over the path of your mindset is indeed a super power. Just by doing this you will be opening up your life to the most amazing possibilities!

So you have recognized your fears, made a plan of action to combat them and now you have the tools to erase negative imprinting. There is no stopping you! Being fearless is liberating and the bounty from stepping outside your comfort zone is plentiful!
