Hummus Your Way

Hummus is popular and is a great snack for all occasions and even every day. One of the best things about hummus is the ease of making it at home. Yes, DIY home cooks rock hummus and you can too.

Basic Plain Hummus Recipe

Blend 1 drained can of chickpeas, 1 lemon juiced, 1 tablespoon tahini, 1 teaspoon sea salt, and ½ cup olive oil in either a blender or food processor until the consistency is creamy and smooth.

How about mixing up and making some variations to the basic recipe?

  • A Yellow Hummus
    Basic Plain Hummus Recipe and add 2 garlic cloves, 1 teaspoon turmeric, and 1 head roasted cauliflower
  • A Green Hummus
    Basic Plain Hummus Recipe and add 2 garlic cloves and 1 cup cooked peas
  • A Red Hummus
    Basic Plain Hummus Recipe and add 2 roasted beets, 1 teaspoon smoked paprika, and 1 garlic clove
  • A Red Pepper Hummus
    Basic Plain Hummus Recipe plus ¾ cup roasted red pepper

Ways to eat hummus include on chips, crackers, veggies, pita bread, in place of mustard or mayo, or in a salad. Be creative and try all different ways. Have fun with your cooking adventure. Maybe the kids can help you!
